Maneki Neko รขโ‚ฌโ€œ Japanese Creatures Postcard Series #1

This is a first swap of a series I hope to host if there will be enough participants. :) The theme for the first swap of the series is Lucky Cats, Maneki Neko.

For the swap, you will be making your partner a postcard or a note card with a Japanese lucky cat on it. The card can be any size and your working methods are completely up to you to decide. You may draw, paint, collage, stampรขโ‚ฌยฆ whatever suits your mood and interests! The idea is to have fun and to express yourself, there is no need to make your creature look exactly how it should be in the legends or myths รขโ‚ฌโ€œ you can get creative!

Send your card in an envelope. You may write a message to the card or you may choose to include a small message separately, stating the swap name and your screen name, leaving the card empty for your partner to use later on.

Maneki neko is not perhaps the most mysterious of creatures, but I chose it to be the first theme because it is so widely known. You can read some basic info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maneki_Neko

The plan is to host at least:

Maneki Neko รขโ‚ฌโ€œ November 2011

Tanuki รขโ‚ฌโ€œ December 2011

Kappa - January 2012

Oni / Akki (of your choice) - February 2012

Ryu / Tatsu / Japanese Dragons รขโ‚ฌโ€œ March 2012

Ningyo รขโ‚ฌโ€œ April 2012

Kitsunes of Oinari / Mythical foxes รขโ‚ฌโ€œ May 2012

Happy Swapping!!

Ooh this series sounds fun!

I have a question: Is the postcard to be sent in an envelope? I'm a bit worried that some bits might get lost on the airmail way.. >__<

Yes, you can send it in an envelope! I will update the info a bit, to make it clearer. :)

Update: I request the possible participants to send the card in an envelope. Not naked. :)

Thank you!
