This is an altered version of a swap hosted by @AlyssD and she has given me permission to host it here. I thought it would be a great, fun swap for this group! This swap is inspired by the book: “Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure” (Harper Collins, 2008). Here's the twist...it's NOT YOUR MEMOIR. Pick one of your favorite characters from a YA book and write a six-word memoir from his or her point of view. :-) You will write their memoir in only 6 words on the back of a postcard and send it to two partners. Six words—no more, no less. Postcard is sender’s choice. Think of the character's life and sum it up in 6 words…it’s easier said than done…but fun! For inspiration, look at this site Here are some great ones: Painful nerd kid, happy nerd adult. - Linda Williamson Extremely responsible, secretly longed for spontaneity. - Sabra Jennings The psychic said I'd be richer. - Elizabeth Bernstein RECAP: • Write a memoir from a character's point of view from a YA novel using 6 words (no more, no less) • Write the title of the book and the character's name • Write the memoir on a PC of your choice • Send PC to your two (2) partners Group guidelines apply. I will angel this if necessary. Newbies welcome. Don't just jot down six words. Put some thought into this…it should be super fun & interesting. If this swap goes well, I might make it a series...there are SO many books and characters I want to do! :-) | |
